3 Months to Race Start!

August has been a busy month filled with final preparations, offshore and in-classroom training and fun community events.

Pre-Shipment Inspection

All entrants in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge must complete a thorough pre-shipment inspection to ensure boat, gear, and rowers are up to the standards of the race Safety Officer. We passed with no issues. As we move into September our focus is on finalizing our calorie plan and packing strategy to optimize weight distribution for surfing waves and accessibility to equipment on board. We ship our boat in early October from the East Coast to the start line in La Gomera!

Drift Yoga Erg-off and Elliott Bay Marina Events!

This month we were fortunate to be hosted at Drift Yoga and Elliott Bay Marina for a series of events helping to raise awareness for our row and cause.

Offshore Training and Courses

With everyone’s kind support on our GoFundMe Campaign, we’ve been able to train more frequently on the Pacific Coast, experiencing ever larger ocean conditions and losing sight of shore for increased lengths of time. Our longest open ocean row has been 100 miles, lasting 22 hours, with more on the near horizon.

We completed Sea Survival training and First Aid for Mariners to add to our growing list of certifications. We are feeling more prepared every day and can’t wait to reach the start line!
