Final PreparationsAt the boat park on La Gomera, we completed our pre-race inspection with the race safety officers and made minor repairs. We counted and double checked our food, supplies and procedures and packed our boat “Lionheart”. With Lionheart in the water and a confirmatory row complete, physically, all is ready. Mentally, we also feel ready. We have a healthy amount of nerves that we are confident will settle once on the water. We’ve put in over 500 hours of team training on board Lionheart, we know how to take care of each other, and our boat. We are fortunate to be in this position, and are mindful to enjoy and absorb as much of the experience as possible, for while 3000 miles is a long way, it is finite. Weather for the start looks to favour a southern trajectory due to a low pressure system dipping further south than is normal for this time of year, but looks set to return to high pressure around 10 days out. The race is a go, with Team Pacific Boys set to launch at 11:43am GMT, tomorrow, December 12.
