The origin

Jonathan discovered ocean rowing in 2013 in Alastair Humphrey’s 2012 Atlantic crossing. After Jonathan visited the start of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge in 2018, he saw the opportunity to make good on long dormant dreams and inspire others like Alastair did 7 years ago. Reaching out to networks of sailors and rowers, he recruited teammates, found a boat, and started training…

Milestones & Key Events

  • December 2018: Jonathan Harrison visits TWAC 2018 race start in La Gomera, Canary Islands.

  • February 2019: Isaac Mackey is introduced to Jonathan by a mutual friend Yash.

  • December 2019: Kramer Lewis sees a recruiting email from Jonathan on a sailing emailing list.

  • January 2020: The team purchases an ocean rowing boat from Australian team Rowed Less Travelled (TWAC 2019, 2nd place).

  • March 2020: The team drives the boat from Florida to Seattle.

  • March 2022: 14-hour, 45-mile circumnavigation of Lake Washington

  • August 2020: Two 100-mile rows in Puget Sound, San Juan Islands (video link)

  • October 2020: First row on the Pacific Ocean, launching from Westport, Washington

  • February 2021: Boat “haul-out”, 100 hours of repair work and improvements (video link)

  • April 2021: 24-hour erg-athon for Assistance League of Seattle (video link)

  • June 2021: WA360: 360-mile race in the Puget Sound, finished 2nd/19 in human-powered category (video link)

  • August 2021: 290-mile row in Pacific Ocean, from Crescent City, California, to Bodega Bay, California (video link)

  • October 2021: The team drives the boat from Seattle to South Carolina; it’s shipped to the Canary Islands.

  • December 2021: Team Pacific Boys starts TWAC 2021 in Canary Islands

  • January 2022: Team Pacific Boys finishes TWAC 2021 in Antigua after 40 days, 5 hours, 30 seconds (video link)

  • July 2022: The boat is sold to a European team.
